Function
The universal joint (also called a cardan joint) connects the driveshaft to the transmission and axle, allowing torque to be transmitted at different angles while accommodating suspension movement.

Manual Play Test

Try moving the joint up/down/sideways—if it moves more than 1-2 mm, it’s likely worn.
Lubrication
Some U-joints have zerk fittings—use a grease gun with high-temperature lithium-based grease.
Pump grease until fresh grease emerges from the seals (but don’t overfill).
